Our Board

At RMHC North Australia, our Board of Directors is a dedicated group of individuals who provide governance, strategic leadership, and support for our mission. Each member brings a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to supporting families with seriously ill or injured children.

Our Board plays a crucial role in guiding the organisation, ensuring the successful delivery of our programs across North Australia. Together, they help drive our vision forward, providing valuable insights and oversight to maintain the highest standards of service and care.

Dr. Michael Reilly

Board Chair

Mick is an experienced leader, manager and consultant with a key interest in decision making practices in pressured situations, and in helping high performance teams improvetheir capability. He supports the Army Combat Training Centre as the Director of Learning and is the Professor of Practice (Defence Industries) at James Cook University. Mick’s PhD investigated the utility and importance of team feedback activities in improving team performance. He has several other tertiary academic qualifications, is a graduate of the ADF Command and Staff College and the AICD Company’s Director Course. Mick has led several commercial and for-purpose organisations including as the President of the Northern Queensland Legacy, President of the Townsville Chamber of Commerce and Board member of Townsville Enterprise Limited,.

He served in the military in a range of full and part-time roles for over 35 years including several operational tours in East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mick has been an RMHC North Australia Board Director since 2024, and was appointed as Board Chair in 2025.

Paul Rissman

Deputy Chair

Paul is a McDonald’s Franchisee of a group of restaurants in the Townsville region. Paul started his McDonald’s Franchise journey with the acquisition of the McDonald’s Ayr restaurant in 2002. He now owns and operates eight McDonald’s restaurants in the region. Paul has specific experience in Property, Finance, Marketing and Governance with over 20 years ofbusiness experience across multiple disciplines and is actively involved in the community. He has held a position as Board Director of Cowboys Rugby League Football Ltd since 2020.

Paul has been involved with RMHC North Australia for over 20 years, elected as a Board Director in 2004, and serving as Board Chair for extended terms between 2009 and 2019 and Deputy Chair for various terms betweem 2005 and 2025.

Michael Muller

Treasurer

Beginning his working life in agriculture, Mike spent over a decade as a dedicated farmer and grazier, building a strong foundation in hard work, resilience, and rural business management. At the age of 31, he transitioned into the world of retail, successfully operating three clothing stores over a seven-year period, demonstrating his adaptability and entrepreneurial spirit. 

In 1998, he took a bold step into the quick service restaurant industry, opening the McDonald’s in Airlie Beach. His keen business acumen and leadership saw further expansion, with the opening of McDonald’s Bowen in 2009 and another McDonald’s restaurant on 10/10/2010. His portfolio grew again in 2019 with the acquisition of McDonald’s Moranbah, marking over two decades of success as a McDonald’s franchisee in regional Queensland.

After a fulfilling and diverse career spanning agriculture, retail, and franchising, Mike retired in November 2023.

He now enjoys a well-earned retirement in the coastal paradise of Hydeaway Bay, near Airlie Beach.

Mike has served as an RMHC North Australia Board Director since 2022.

Angela Fortt

Secretary

Angela Fortt holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from James Cook University, and is a Principal at Mackey Wales Law. She has practiced as a lawyer in Townsville for almost two decades. Angela leads the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution team and has considerable experience in a broad range of general and commercial litigation matters, as well as in all aspects of employment law. 

Angela is a past President of the Townsville District Law Association, a past committee member of the North Queensland Law Association, a Life Member of Townsville Community Law and has been recognised as an Outstanding Alumni of James Cook University.

Angela was appointed as an RMHC North Australia Board Director in April 2024.

Micheal Luck

Board Member

Micheal is a former professional Rugby League footballer who played for the North Queensland Cowboys and the New Zealand Warriors. He has completed undergraduate and postgraduate business and governance degrees in New Zealand and Australia and is currently in the fifth year of his role as the General Manager of Football at the North Queensland Cowboys.

Micheal was appointed as an RMHC North Australia Board Director in 2019,

Katrina Roberts

Board Member

Katrina is appointed as the Nursing Director of Neonatal, Children and Adolescent Services at Townsville University Hospital providing leadership and governance clinicians across nursing, midwifery and allied health, providing a safe family-centred care approach for patients and families.

She has 40 years working in Neonatal and Children’s Healthcare and has a Master of Nursing and is focused on growing strong teams and encouraging professional growth and development through research and quality projects.

Katrina has been an RMHC North Australia Board Director since 2023.

Greg Smith

Board Member

Greg is an experienced business leader with a background in engineering, operations, and community engagement. After earning a Bachelor of Engineering from James Cook University, he played a key role in modernising Ergon Energy’s statewide control systems.

In 2007, he and his wife, Vicki, acquired their first McDonald’s restaurant in the Northern Territory, growing their business to seven locations with nearly 800 employees. He is deeply involved in the community, supporting local organisations and leading fundraising efforts for Ronald McDonald House Charities. A lifelong soccer player and coach, he has held leadership roles at both Townsville Warriors and Litchfield Football Clubs, earning life memberships for his contributions.

Greg has served as an RMHC North Australia Board Director since 2023.

Janelle Doyle

Board Member

Janelle is the McDonald’s Licensee of Fairfield, North Ward and Townsville CBD.

Janelle has an extensive 42-year history as a licensee for McDonalds, and has been a strong supporter of RMHC in every state she has worked in, as well as in the UK.

Janelle has been an RMHC Board Director in various capacities since 2014.

Emily Roebuck

Board Member

Emily is an accomplished General Manager with over 15 years’ experience in the media and hospitality industries. With a strong background in marketing, sales, events, strategic planning, and leadership, Emily has a proven track record of driving business growth, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. Beyond her professional achievements, Emily is committed to giving back to the community. 

She currently volunteers as a Director on two not-for-profit boards, is a member of the Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre Joint Venture committee and served as a Royal Australian Air Force reservist at the start of her career. As a Director she imparts her expertise in leadership, strategic planning, and organisational development to companies whose values align with hers and who are deeply connected to her local community.

Emily was appointed as RMHC North Australia Board Director in 2024.

Vicki Carson

Board Member

Vicki Carson is the Director Women’s and Children’s Service Group at Townsville Hospital and Health Service. She is an experienced health manager specialising in women’s, children’s, and community services. She has a long-standing commitment to improving health service availability and accessibility for families in local and North Queensland communities. Her efforts include collaborating with colleagues to identify tertiary specialty clinical services, build capability of maternity and newborn services. This has included identification of capital requirements required in North Queensland to support clinical and family needs. Vicki’s goal is to lead healthcare services that are accessible, equitable, and safe.

Inspired by RMHC’s mission and its ability to support families across North Australia, Vicki will continue to use her professional expertise and community experience to further strengthen the organization’s programs and profile.

Vicki has served as an RMHC North Australia Board Director for various terms since 2015.

Brig. Ben McLennan

Board Member

Passionate about serving his nation, Brigadier McLennan commissioned as an officer in the Australian Army in 1999. Throughout his military career, he has routinely led Australian Army, Australian Defence Force, whole-of-government, diplomatic, coalition, industry, academic and community teams. Brigadier McLennan has represented the Australian Army on numerous operational deployments (Timor-Leste, Afghanistan, the Philippines), regional and global engagements (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand), exchange (Canada) and liaison officer (France) appointments. He has fulfilled a variety of training, operations and capability development roles. He is currently the Commander of the Australian Army’s Armoured Amphibious Brigade.

Brigadier McLennan has earned several Australian and foreign honours, commendations, decorations and academic awards. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, periodicals and blogs. He holds a Bachelor in Marketing/Management, a Masters in Strategic Studies, is a graduate of the Australian Command and Staff College and he is a French linguist.

Brig. McLennan was appointed as an RMHC North Australia Board Director in 2025.
