Seymour Family

Our son Taz had a motorbike accident in April 2021 where he sustained multiple skull fractures after his helmet was caught up and pulled from his head, a collapsed lung and an unknown amount of brain bleeding.

Our family was told by the hospital to gather our family while the plane was on route, as they felt there was high chance he may not survive the flight with the unknown amount of trauma to the brain.

Taz was maintained in an induced coma in PICU before he was stable enough for an attempt to wake him from this induced coma.

“It was the most distressing experience of our lives and one I wish on no one”. The Ronald McDonald House and Family Room provided us with so much and took the weight off our shoulders in our darkest times.

On from his accident he’s returned to more normal activities like non contact sport. His skull is healed and his learning is progressing.

In March 2024 we were blessed with the opportunity to spend a week at the Family Retreat in Palm Cove North QLD. What can I say but WOW! The location is beautiful, the Retreat has every thing you could need and the pool was amazing.

We packed in a lot of stuff as a family to make the most of this trip.

This trip brought happiness to our family like you could not imagine. We will forever be grateful for how the Ronald McDonald House has helped us so much, and Australia is lucky to have them.

While the trauma will always be in the back of mind as a mother, experiences like this help you to remember to be grateful for your life and love your family dearly.

Forever grateful,
The Seymour Family”
